Carpentry and trim is where the eye checks your work
You can get away with a lot in a renovation. You cannot get away with a gappy miter at eye level, a stair tread that flexes underfoot, or a door that catches on the jamb. Trim is the layer people run a hand along.
It also has to work with a house that has moved. Most of the housing stock on the shore has settled, so scribing to an out-of-level floor and an out-of-plumb wall is the normal condition rather than the exception. Trim cut square to a house that is not square is exactly what produces gaps.
We measure and install with the same crew, which sounds like a small thing until you have seen what happens when the person cutting never saw the room.

Usually. Older profiles are often not available off the shelf, so it means sourcing a close match or having a knife made. We will tell you which one your house needs and what it costs.
Both, though they are different jobs. Stain-grade means tighter material selection and more care at every joint because nothing hides under paint. It is priced accordingly.
Yes, treads and risers through newels, balusters and handrail. If the stringers or the rise and run are the actual problem, we will say so rather than dressing up a stair that is off.
Yes. Bring a drawing, a photo or a rough idea and we will work it into something buildable at your budget.
Yes, it is real project work. What we do not take is handyman work, because half-day jobs are what wreck a build schedule.
