From Dover Air Force Base to Your Front Door

Mark Sabean learned this trade in the Air Force, stationed at Dover. He started the company in 1989. Lori has run the office since the first day. Their sons work here now. That is the whole org chart, and it is the point.

Sabean Heating and Air Conditioning, 1989

The Air Force taught Mark how these systems work and, more usefully, how they fail. Military maintenance is not about getting a thing running again. It is about understanding why it stopped, documenting it, and making sure it does not stop the same way twice. He brought that habit home to Kent County.

In 1989 he hung out a shingle as Sabean Heating and Air Conditioning. Lori took the phone. She still has it.

Rookie Franchise of the Year, 1994

Five years in, the company joined the Air Serve franchise network and won Rookie Franchise of the Year in 1994. It was the first outside confirmation that the way they were doing things worked, and it came from people who had seen a lot of contractors.

Air Doctorx, 1997

The name changed in 1997. Dr. Chill came with it, and thirty years later people still call the office asking whether the doctor can come look at their furnace. We have made our peace with that.

Who You Actually Get

Mark Sabean

Owner. Air Force trained at Dover, in this trade since before the company existed. Still the person who gets called when a diagnosis is genuinely strange.

Lori Sabean

Office manager since 1989. If you call during business hours, the odds are good you are talking to the person who has been answering that phone for over thirty years.

Benjamin Sabean

Marketing director. Second generation, which means he grew up hearing about heat exchangers at the dinner table.

Timothy Sabean

Also second generation, also in the family business. A short list of names, and all of them answer for the work.

What We Believe About This Trade

Technicians, not salespeople

Our people are paid to diagnose and repair, not to close. There is no commission riding on whether your capacitor turns into a system replacement, and that changes what gets said at your kitchen table. If a two hundred dollar fix will get you five more years, that is what you will hear.

No cookie-cutter instant quotes

We will not price a system over the phone. Your house has its own square footage, insulation, window orientation, ductwork, and its own list of rooms that have never been comfortable. A number generated without seeing any of that is a guess with a decimal point.

Being here in ten years is part of the service

More and more companies are popping up around here every year. Some are good. Some are a truck, a magnet sign, and a phone number that stops working. Ask whoever you call whether they are licensed and insured, and ask how long they have been at it. We hold Delaware license #36081 and we have been answering the same phone number since 1989.

Rooted and grounded in your community

We live in Kent County. Our kids went to school here. When we do bad work, we run into you at the grocery store. That is a stronger accountability mechanism than any review platform.

Credentials That Took Work

  • Diamond Elite Mitsubishi Dealer. The top tier of Mitsubishi's dealer program, earned on training, installation quality, and customer satisfaction, and maintained rather than awarded once.
  • Trane Comfort Specialist. Same idea on the Trane side. It carries training and performance requirements year over year.
  • Delaware license #36081. Licensed and insured, and happy to show it.
  • Veteran owned and operated. Where the whole thing started.

Those matter most when something goes wrong. Dealer status is what lets us stand behind extended factory warranties instead of pointing you at an 800 number.

Working Here

We hire technicians who would rather explain a problem than talk around it. If you are in this trade in Kent County or on the Eastern Shore and you are tired of being pushed to sell, call the office and ask for Lori. Small company, no commission pressure, and equipment worth learning properly.

We would rather train somebody honest than hire somebody fast.

Questions People Ask Before They Call

Since 1989, originally as Sabean Heating and Air Conditioning, renamed Air Doctorx in 1997. Same family, same county, same phone number.

Yes. Delaware license #36081, and insured. Ask any contractor for both before you let them touch your equipment, including us.

Air Doctorx is a Diamond Elite Mitsubishi Dealer and a Trane Comfort Specialist. We install equipment we trust to hold its value for decades, and we service every major brand regardless of who sold it.

No. They are paid to diagnose and repair. Nobody in a truck with our name on it has a financial reason to talk you into a system you do not need.

Yes. Kent County and central Delaware down to the beaches, plus the Eastern Shore of Maryland including Easton, Centreville, Denton, and the towns around them.
