A Sterling Silver Studio dancer
Twelve honest answers

Before you walk in

Does my child need any experience?

Never. Most of our dancers start with none at all. Every class meets beginners exactly where they are, and our teachers are endlessly patient with brand-new little movers.

What ages do you teach?

Everyone, from age two with a parent right beside her, up through high school, plus adult classes. There is a level built for every age and stage, so she never outgrows us.

Do you welcome every kind of kid?

Always. Sterling Silver is a safe, accepting place for every child, including those who learn differently or need a sensory break or an adapted approach. Every child belongs here.

Is this only for competitive dancers?

Not at all. Most of our dancers are here purely for the joy of it. Our competitive team, Company 91, is there if and when she wants it, by audition, but it is never the expectation.

How do we get started?

Book a free trial class. Come see the floor, meet the teacher, and find out if it feels like home, with no pressure and no commitment. If she loves it, enrolling takes minutes.

Can we join partway through the season?

Yes, and families do it every year. Teachers are used to bringing a new dancer up to speed, and there is no penalty for starting in January instead of September.

What does she wear to a trial class?

Anything she can move in, with bare feet or socks. Once she enrolls there is a simple dress code by program and we will send you the sheet for her class.

Can I watch the class?

Yes. We have viewing into the studios, and we run watch weeks during the season so you can come in and see properly what she has been building.

How many classes a week is normal?

One is completely normal and is where almost everyone starts. Plenty of dancers add a second discipline once they know what they love. More than that is an Ensemble or Company question.

Does every dancer perform in the recital?

Every Academy class performs. There is no cut and no bench. Enroll for Season 36 and she also receives a free recital shirt and online access so family anywhere can watch.

What if she tries it and hates it?

Then it was a free hour and you learned something. We would genuinely rather you found the right studio for her than enrolled in the wrong one because it felt awkward to say no.

Do you offer classes for adults?

Yes. Adult ballet, tap and jazz, twirling and dance fitness, all levels, no experience needed. Several take drop-ins, and the first one is free for you too.

Her first class is complimentary. An hour on our floor settles more questions than any page on this website can.
